John'S Shoe Hospital - Hot Springs, Arkansas

After more than 100 years at 829 Central Avenue in Hot Springs, Arkansas, John's Shoe Hospital closed in June 2023. The building is being renovated for the first time since 1908. The shoe repair shop was previously located at 128 Central Avenue in the late 1800's where the Black Orchid later opened. At this location it was a five and dime store that also repaired shoes. John’s Shoe Hospital was closed in June 2023. David "John" Garner worked or owned the business for the last 67 years. He planned to continue repairing shoes part time but wasn't able to do so. He passed away on November 16, 2023. Harle David Garner and John's Shoe Hospital were a Hot Springs fixture that will be truly missed.  Select the Pictures or Contact links above for more information.
